EL CANTO DE LAS MANOS

EDITOR - FUNDRAISING TRAILER

Katharine was tasked with editing a 5-minute teaser from raw footage to attract American Investors. The film was completed the following year.

THE SONG OF THE HANDS explores deafness through music, following Jennifer, Gabriel, and José, three deaf musicians from Venezuela, as they face the challenge of staging Beethoven's opera, Fidelio, for the first time in sign language, under the baton of renowned conductor, Gustavo Dudamel. The film portrays the isolation the protagonists experience as deaf people, understanding that music is not only their refuge, but also their salvation and their hope. With music expressed through sign language, this film delivers a moving portrait of an often-overlooked community, celebrating the transformative power of art and self-expression.
